Our Gisborne branch is seeking an empathetic, experienced Counsellor for a fulfilling opportunity, giving you the tools you need to support people the way they deserve to be taken care of – the Habit Health way.

EAP Counselling is short-term intervention. Our Counsellors work on a broad range of mental health matters from couples counselling, addiction, trauma, child and adolescent counselling and dealing with grief - to name a few. 

Main responsibilities:  

  • Deliver focused interventions so that clients ace coping mechanisms at work and life
  • Visit worksites to provide support after an event disruption
  • Deliver counselling services via in-person, video and telehealth
  • Deliver training to customer employees

The ideal candidate:

  • A strong sense of others – we’re looking for sensitivity and empathy as traits
  • Current APC with NZAC, DAPAANZ, SWRB or NZCCA
  • Tertiary level 7 Counselling or related qualification and minimum five years of post-study experience is required.
  • Experience in the following areas is desirable: psychological first aid, couples counselling and working with children and teenagers.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based therapy models e.g. SFT, CBT, FACT is desirable
  • Can work independently and attend on-sites for psychological first aid.
